Hero Vida VX2, Z Electric Scooters Debut in July: Under ₹1 Lakh Expected

Hero MotoCorp is getting ready to boost the Indian electric scooter game — again. The country’s largest two-wheeler manufacturer will unveil not one but two new electric scooters for the Vida brand on 1st July 2025. The focus? Offering more affordable and accessible EVs, just when the Indian electric vehicle market is buzzing with action.

New Vida Scooters: What’s In The Pot?

All of that is still under wraps — as Hero would have it, the cards are close to the vest. But here’s what’s dripping out: according to the reports, both future vehicles will be based on a new, cost-effective EV platform that’s been codenamed ACPD. This new architecture is being developed to reduce cost significantly, potentially making it comparable to, or even cheaper than, entry-level petrol scooters. That’s quite a jump, given how price-conscious Indian consumers are.

The two new scooters will round out the current lineup — Vida currently makes the V2 Lite, V2 Plus and V2 Pro — by sitting at the more affordable end of the spectrum. Consider them Hero’s response to other budget e-scooters in the market place, albeit with a Hero badge and network muscle.

Design & Platform: Easier, Smarter, Manageable

Official teasers are hard to come by, one of the new models will likely be the Vida Z (or VX2, as it’s also referred to as in the tech circles with some secrecy behind). The scooter was showcased first at EICMA 2024 and has been snapped testing on Indian roads. Look for a minimalist design: Think clean body panels, a rectangle LED headlamp in the apron, a single-piece seat with a backrest, a trapezoidal tail lamp. There are also rumblings of a front storage compartment for increased practicality.

The system is designed to be modular allowing compatibility with various battery options. The base model is expected to include a single 2.2 kWh removable battery, and the higher level model would come with dual batteries, for a total of up to 3.4 kWh. That would make the range figures easily over 100 km for the higher variant–which ought to be sufficient for your every day city commutes.

Features: Not Bare-Bones, But Value-Oriented

These new Vidas aren’t going to be stripped-down commuters, though, so you can try to reserve your judgment for a moment. Even the cheaper Vida Z is rumoured to feature a TFT display (albeit a smaller one than the V2’s 7in model), basic telematics and over-the-air updates. Removable batteries – a big talking point for Hero – stick around, meaning you can refuel at home with your regular 5-amp plug. No more lugging the scooter to a power outlet, or searching for public charging.

Other rumored features are as follows:

  • Cast wheels, telescopic front fork and single rear shock
  • Front disc brake
  • Large foot-board and under-seat storage
  • Keyless entry, theft alarms and geofencing (on higher trims)
  • Simple but sturdy construction—designed for Indian roads and users

Daily-Use Performance

Both the Vida Z and its sibling are likely to employ a permanent magnet synchronous motor, which is likely to produce slightly less output than the V2’s 6 kW peak figure. That should mean sprightly performance in the city—0–40 km/h in less than 4 seconds, and a top-speed of 60-75 km/h for the base one. Not a rocket, but suitable for city commutes and brief highway sprints.

India Launch Date and Expected Price

From 1st July 2025, a date to be circled. Hero MotoCorp will hold them in their covers, they will give us more details about the new Vida electric scooters upon launch as this will be followed by the commencement of deliveries.

When it comes to price, Hero is looking to hit the sweet spot. The base Vida Z (or VX2) is expected to be priced from ₹75,000–₹85,000 (ex-showroom) undercutting most foes including some petrol scooters. The top-end version could extend up to ₹1 lakh based on battery size and features. That’s pretty aggressive, and could further shake up the field of entry-level electric vehicles.

Hero’s EV Push: Not Just Scooters

Hero is doing more than simply launching a new product; it’s quickening the pace of production (once it gets going, it plans an output of 15,000 units a month) and network-building, which will cover 200-plus touchpoints in 116 cities. The automaker has increased EV sales by 175% in FY2025, selling almost 49,000 units. With these new offerings, expect the company to shoot up further as it is already in fifth place in EV sales.

What Hero MotoCorp calls its July 1st launch is more than just a date in the calendar – it’s a state of intent. The company is making a massive bet on affordability, practicality, and its extensive service network to lure Indian EV buyers. If you’ve been looking for an electric scooter that isn’t a bank breaker and that won’t leave you stranded, the new Vida twins might just be worth a look.
